JSDB.io is Now JavaScripting.com
When we acquired the JavaScripting.com domain well over a year ago, we had a vague idea that we could use it to set up a community website for JavaScript developers. After some thought, this idea crystallized into a vision of a web-based database for JavaScript libraries and frameworks. As the JS space has exploded over the past few years, it has become increasingly difficult to find the right library for a given purpose. This isn’t because there aren’t enough libraries out there, but because there are too many. How is a JavaScript developer to know which of the zillions of photo lightboxers or MVC frameworks or WebFont loaders to use?
As we were mulling this over, we discovered the excellent JSDB.io. It covers a lot of what we had envisioned. A few months later, we approached its primary author, Konstantin Sokhan, about a possible partnership. It turned out that he was looking for someone to take over ongoing development and maintenance of the site. We hammered out an agreement, and today we are delighted to announce that JSDB.io is now JavaScripting.com. Users of JSDB.io will see that, besides doing the site up in Salsita red, we haven’t changed very much yet. So for now, JavaScripting.com is still the same JSDB.io you know and love. We do have big plans for enhancements, so stay tuned. And if you have ideas for how the site could be improved, we’d love to hear from you.
